Translation for : Salam from Niagara Falls
"Salam from Niagara Falls — سلام از آبشار نیاگار takes up first and second generation Afghan and Iranian home-making in the context of ongoing settler colonialism on Turtle Island. Family photographs at Niagara Falls are a staple in many new migrant and refugee households, often evoking newfound relationships to belonging in Canada. The shared experience brings forward a collective nostalgia of Canada as “a nation of immigrants” and it is this glorified sentiment that Melika Hashemi, Ferozan Nasiri, and Zahra Rajabi complicate, reject, and rethink through digital manipulations of their family archives. Curated by Mitra Fakhrashrafi. We are endlessly grateful for the work that Wares Fazelyar and Nima Esmailpour of Taklif : تکلیف Collective took on to provide Dari and Farsi translations for this exhibition."
